Lefkas or Lefkada is considered to be one of the most beautiful islands of the Ionian and with 117 km of coastline, it is also the fourth largest. The island has impressive landscapes, long golden sandy beaches, traditional villages, a charming capital, some animated beach resorts with many restaurants and bars, Byzantine churches, archaeological sites, perfect wind conditions for windsurfing and kite surfing and much more.
Go back to 640 BC and Lefkas was not an island at all but was joined to the mainland by a long narrow isthmus. The Corinthians excavated a canal which today is crossed by a swing bridge making it the only Ionian island you can drive to so no need for ferries.
Our villas are all in Agios Nikitas and Sivota Bay, two of the most picturesque villages on Lefkas.
Agios Nikitas is a wonderfully preserved traditional village with a strong Lefkadian flavour and one of the most beautiful village in Lefkas.
The center of the village is a car free zone where you will find traditional tavernas, cafes, bars and mini markets. The nightlife is relaxed and low key which we know is what our clients love.
The village has it's own sandy beach but there is also a water taxi that can take you to the impressive Milos beach around the headland. There is also a footpath to Milos beach but it is quite steep and at one point involves a short ladder! Kathisma and Pefkulia beach, two of the most beautiful beaches of Lefkas, are a short drive away.
A holiday in Agios Nikitas will appeal to those looking for sand, sun and sea with watersports such as windsurfing and paragliding nearby but with the delights of a traditional Greek village.
Sivota Bay, is a traditional and very pretty fishing village built around a nauturally protected cove. Coffee shops, fish tavernas and bars line the beautiful quay where you can enjoy fresh fish and traditional Lefkadian cooking.
The village has its own small beach but others are a short car journey away and well worth a visit. Mountain bikes can be hired for those wishing to explore on two wheels and for those that prefer two feet, the region offers great hiking.
Small boats can also be hired in the village which make for a lovely day exploring the coast.
